Gas for the population of Ukraine rises in price by 280% since April 1

The National Commission for Energy and Utilities Regulation, as part of the implementation of the Memorandum with the country's key creditor, the International Monetary Fund, has increased the minimum gas tariff for the population by 3.3 times from April 1 of this year, to UAH 3,600 per thousand cubic meters of fuel. The corresponding decision was made at a meeting of the commission on Tuesday, March 3.


According to the decision of the commission, the minimum tariff for the population is set during the heating season from October 1 to April 30 with a maximum fuel consumption of up to 200 cubic meters per month. In case of exceeding the established minimum volume, subsequent volumes are paid at the rate of UAH 7188 per 1,000 cubic meters.

During the off-season period - from May 1 to September 30 - the cost of natural gas will be 7188 UAH per 1000 cubic meters, regardless of the volume of consumption.

In addition, by the decision of the NERC, the tariff for gas for cooking is set from April 1 at the level of UAH 7188 per 1000 cubic meters, which is 6 times higher than the current tariff.

The increase in gas tariffs for all categories of consumers will average 280%, as was recorded in a memorandum with the IMF signed by the President, Prime Minister, heads of the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank at the end of February this year.
